Vitreous Floaters

When little pieces of the vitreous (the gel like substance at the back of the eye) break away, they become vitreous floaters. They appear like little moving flecks or spots in our vision. Most of us will experience them at some time in our lives.

Floaters are usually not sight-threatening. If you do notice the sudden appearance of a number of floaters (especially accompanied by flashes of light) this could indicate something more serious such as a retinal detachment.
